Challenges 4 Everybody #36

This week at Challenges 4 Everybody
Our sponsor is the wonderful
So come on and join in the fun with our Anything goes challenge and you could win 3 images of your choice.

This week I sewed some little quick tree decorations for a small Christmas tree that I have. I found a great tutorial at Life after laundry simple instructions to follow. I had seen these done in paper folding but this is the first time I had seen it done in fabric.. So thought it would be a bit more durable to make out of fabric.. I am going to make some larger ones as well for my big tree, as they turned out quite well and where very simple to make.. Try to get quite small patterns on the fabric as big patterns get a bit lost..

Have a great Christmas stay safe and
have a Wonderful New Year.

Sandee said try this...

I was talking to Sandee from Sunday's with Sandee and she asked if I had tried her last Sunday Tutorial  yet?  Everything else had been put on hold as the temperature was just too hot to do much else.. So sat inside in the Air conditioning and played with lots of colour and sparkle.. I had lots of fun and tried my hand at dangles too as Sandee had.  I had been looking at these amazing lines and wanting to have a go, so this all turned out perfect timing for me. Gee it was hard to stop once I started, loved doing those..  So texture paste, crackle paste and lots of glitter and Dylusions sprays and I was done.. The flower turned out really great too with the orange and the tiny dots of texture paste. I would have tried mixing colours as well but I did not have any of the white spray, oh well on my list of things to get next year.

The owl is from my Typo stencils, she is so bright and colourful I love her blue eyes.. It was hard to get a photo there was so much sparkle happening.
Close up of the owl really shows the crackle on the wings and brow and bit on the tummy.   Think my quote was just the right one for this..
Don't be afraid to sparkle a little brighter.
I even wrote it on here in my handwriting, I am getting better at liking my own handwriting, hey its all practice.

Merry Christmas and Happy New year
Sandy :)

WOYWW #237

Well I had the big move on the weekend after moving my daughter and all her of her stuff that had taken up 2 bedrooms in the house.. I claimed her room for my craft room and have settled in nicely. Still feels weird to be in there but I will get used to it.. I still have a big window looks out to the front of the house will show you that way another week.. Thought you would like the long view of my desk this week.  My old typewriter is sitting there been getting a bit of use lately. Who knew after it sitting in my cupboard for 35 years unused that I would find a use for it now..  I was lucky with my storage on the other side picked up that desk for $10 at the op shop, bargain and fits my trolley under there beautifully. I finally have a space just for my bigshot and all its bits..  I am sure I will move things around yet. My sewing machine still has to get moved in here and want to have my photo albums in here. I need another sort of shelf for them looks like another trip to Ikea is in my future. I wanted to see what fitted after getting my big table in here and get a feel for the space before I brought any more storage.

One day last week when we where supposed to move some furniture and it teamed down rain I ended up having a bit of time and I made these.. One each for each one of my children and one for me.. More info on these Here.

Christmas tree canvases...

I found this lovely youtube tutorial from Einat Kessler for a Christmas tree canvas, find it  Here Such a wonderful explanation step by step process I thought Hmm I think I can do that.  I had been wanting to make something special for both my children this year as they are both having there first Christmas away from home.. So I wanted to make them something hand made to have up for Christmas..

Such a fun little canvas to make. I made this with Kaisercraft Christmas papers and rubons.. I used Christmas music paper for the background.  My old handy portable typewriter for the words.. Sissix diecuts and my bigshot for the word Joy. I hand cut the stars out of cardboard and embossed them with silver then popped them up with dimensional tape.  I also used buttons for ornaments on my tree as I love the look of buttons on mixed media projects. It is glittered around the edges but hard to see in my photos..
Just for fun I am going to link this up at Creative every day

So as this is getting in the spirit of Christmas think I will say...

Have a Merry Christmas

WOYWW #235

On my desk this week there is my new, think its for toast but I am going to dry cards or stack them in it when they are finished, its a quite heavy ceramic. Just thought it would be good for keeping them up off my desk. Picked it up at the op shop, bargain.. I still have a few more Christmas cards to make yet but I have just been playing with watercolours the last few days.  I wanted a background to do some pen work on it, some doodling practice.  Its right out there hey. I drew this the other night no flowers in sight just a random flow of lines and colours.  I just find it relaxing and with everything going on its what I need at the moment.. I have been helping children move houses everyone is moving somewhere else within 2 weeks so moving to and fro and lots of cleaning.. With that, I will get a whole room to move into next weekend. So one more week you will see my desk here and then it will be all different..
This is a photo of my new cat Misty. She is making herself all at home and has settled in really well. She was watching with interest while we put up the Christmas tree.

Misty says hi to Eliza and Yoda.

Day 29/30 Art every day Month

I have so enjoyed my month of art and it has really helped me. Its been great to focus on finishing many unfinished pages and I am feeling more confident with just doing anything I feel like doing on my pages now.
Took me a bit of time to finish these pages. Well those circles I kept looking at them and thinking hmm pictures in them maybe.. Nope will cover all that great texture, from the start I was thinking birds.. Then it struck me the perfect thing to do with those round shapes OWLS... I love owls and I love to draw them and make them out of book paper. All month I have not done one owl I don't know why.. So yesterday I set about on spraying and cutting out ears and wings.. That took a bit of time with all the different sized owl bodies. Then there was all the drying before I could go to it with my pens and finish it off.. Painted the branches as they had to have feet and be on something as they where not flying.. Buttons for eyes and they where done. So finished off my month with 5 owls on my pages and I really like them, will have to make something like this on a canvas..
Quote is... Observe and reflect become a little wiser every day...

Day 28 Art every day Month

I was watching a Donna Downey inspiration Wednesday Video  I so wanted to have a try at this with my plasterers tape its not the same as what Donna uses but I have not been able to find that one yet.. I do like the one I have it has little squares.  So I started with filling my page with plasterers tape. I also taped a piece of scrap white card stock and cut circles out with my bigshot and dies.. Then I glued it all down as well as some scrap music paper with modpodge. Painted that with hotpink in the background and then the circles with some turquoise.. That's it for today will have to have a think about what is going to go on next.. More stencils maybe some birds not sure yet..

Day 27 Art every day Month

So what did I do today on the page to finish it off.. Well I wrote the word Love 3 times then went to it with my pens.. I sprayed orange on the fairy image from Bugaboo that I found in my left over pile to match my background. Then I got the piece of linen and wiped up the excess. Bit of plasterers tape and some hessian and I really think that's it for this page..  I was going to put more hearts on it but kind of like the little subtle pink hearts on the washi tape popping up there and didn't want to cover them up. On the image from bugaboo it says... I'll love you until the day after forever.

Day 25 Art every day Month

Today I was set a challenge by my friend Sandee.. Sandee talked about
Typography- The work of producing printed pages from written material.
Also about what your individual handwriting means..  Both very interesting topics.. Read more at Frosted Designs
I so need to work on my handwriting and not be afraid to just write things in my journal.. So I accepted that challenge and ran with it and created 2 pages in my journal.. I had fun writing things in all different ways..  I know now that more of my handwriting will be appearing in more of my journal. I started with just spraying the Kaisercraft doily stencil on it.  I used the positive on the right side and then flipped it onto the left..  That gave me some edges to work with and I liked the way the quote fit all around the circle, that was just fluky.. I added the tag in but wanted to still be able to see it and what was around it. So I stuck some acetate on there, making a pocket with glue dots and glue will see if it holds.. I had a lot of fun finding things to write in all the little spots.. Click on the photo to make it bigger if you are having trouble reading the writing...

Challenges 4 Everybody #33 & Day 24 Art Every day Month

Well its time for a new challenge over at Challenges 4 Everybody We have as our sponsor this week  Bugaboo stamps  If you link up with your entry and you are randomly picked, you get to pick 7 free digis of your choice. So come on and join in the fun as always, its Anything goes.

This week I  thought I would get some Christmas cards done when I saw this cute Snow globe Reindeer silhouette image. I saw this and I knew it had to be a shaker card but I have not made one for ages. So off I went to youtube and I found this great  Shaker card tutorial .  I had little stars for the shaker part, thought it worked well with my night time Santa on his sleigh. I popped some silver stickles around the outside edge to give it more sparkle and some icicle stickles on the trees on the inside.. Of course Rudolph had to have a spot of red stickles on his nose.

Day 23 Art every day Month & Aussie tag swap...

Today I am working on my Design Team project for Challenges 4 Everybody and I cant show it yet, but if you follow my blog you will know that on Day 17 I made a tag for my swap partner Diane. Diane has received her tag in the mail and now I can show what was in the little parcel.. I am in an Aussie tag swap and for the month of November the theme was 'Fashion'.

The tag background I modpodged book paper onto. I then used the Dylusions diamond stencil and the walnut stain ink and blended with the blending tool. Then I went over it with picket fence paint to blend it into the background.  I used the dress form from Tim Holtz and cut out the dress with this as well.. Trimmed it with pearls. The lace is the Victoria lace by Stampin'up.  Decorative brad through the top and distressed and edged with walnut stain.  Typed the quote with my typewriter "Fashions fade. Style is eternal" Yves Saint-Laurent.

Day 22 Art every day Month

Yesterday I knew there was something missing from my page.. Well after thinking about it I knew what it was, flowers and butterflies of course. I stamped the flowers and butterflies with a Stampin'up stamp and coloured them in with watercolour paints. I added a few little Kaisercraft flower rub-ons, they where a bit too dark, too black, so I got some picket fence paint, the Tim Holtz one and just popped a little on top to blend them into the background a bit. Then I smoothed it around with my finger. I think this is finished now, I like the little pops of colour the butterflies add. There is silver sparkle here and there as well and the little trails off the butterflies are done with a black sharpie pen..  This whole page was just so I could keep some of these quotes that I like and not loose them. Also to try out and see if I could type my words with my typewriter on baking paper or I have been told in the states you call it parchment paper (in Australia we call it greaseproof paper) and modpodge them on without it smearing..  So lots of experimenting on this page...

Day 21 Art every day Month

I am not sure if I am finished with this yet but here it is for today.. I like the border and the frame's, they are a stencil from Typo. The background is a Gelli plate print.. Think the nifty way of typing and sticking the words on worked really well with greaseproof paper.. Saw that with Donna Downey today and had to try it.. She stamped the words but I don't have stamps that say the things that I want to say. So I went to my 35 year old trusty typewriter, was thinking they are so going to smear but nope, typed them on greaseproof paper and stuck them on with modpodge, worked a treat.   Know what I will be doing a lot of now, love my old typewriter.  I think I just need something else in with the words will think on it..

WOYWW #233

So you don't have to squint
Long shot of my desk today and you can see I have got in quite a mess.. I have 2 of my journals on there the main one is drying the other just sitting at the end there, don't know why it is still there.. You can just see my new Ikea cart making an appearance again, love it just what I needed for all my paints its working really well. Hmm bit of a mess, ink, scissors, paint (must close the top of that), glass of water, modpodge, stencils, washi tape. Bits of the paper from the back of the rolls of adhesive..
Lucy just wanted to get in here too she is quite incorrigible

Day 19 Art every day Month

Today It was a use what was leftover from yesterday day.. I painted the background with a baby wipe in turquoise and a bit of yellow.. Just needed colour on there nothing fancy.. The calico was a bit that was ripped off from yesterday so that went on across the page can you recognise what the other fabric is? Well its the baby wipe from the clean up, all dried.  Bit of hessian on there here and there more bits of leftover.. Even the cardstock with the stamping of the quote, the hand and the word imagination was bits of cardstock that had the edges roughed on the picture from yesterday, but I had cut it down because it was too big.. The tag was the only new thing I grabbed to use on here just to give it a bit more something, something, even that had had the edges roughed already. I used the dylusions diamond stencil on the tag background with some vintage photo ink..  The sewing machine sewed around every edge on here.. The stamp set I used was from Stampers anonymous, Tim Holtz Warehouse District.
