WOYWW #195 and My Blogaversary

It is actually my blogaversary today 1 year ago today I started on this journey of blogging.  I have made some amazing friends, and I have learned so much.  I want to take this opportunity to say to everyone a big Thank-you! for welcoming me into this wonderful world of blogging and crafting.. I have just amazing followers and it thrills me still, every time someone decides they like my blog enough to follow it, or just to take the time out of there busy day to leave a comment.

So to my desk..

Went out today op shopping to find some music pages for the mixed media that I have been getting into lately.. I also found the perfect Journal book that I can make into a mixed media one.  It has little tags and pockets in it already. Its a gardening journal so lots of pictures of flowers in it also, so perfect for what I want to do with it.. Lovely little basket, I have put some stamps in it at the moment.  They do all fit in here until, you know, it might change because I might have to buy some more.. I have another little owl too peeking out was so cute could not resist, cute little face with little daisy's on her.  Thanks to all for all the wonderful comments I received last week and sorry for mucking up the link..  The suggestions for naming my owl where all a hoot... sorry had to do that.. Loved all of them Olly, Hooter, Hootie, Oscar, the one that got  me was this one from
 Mrs C
i need more of every card! i have a fair in 3 weeks and dont have nearly enough prepared keep getting horrible bugs that knock me back for days
i love the owl, my daughter (6) thinks he should be called pipin there was no explanation for the name lol Happy WOYWW tfs Mrs.C #54

I love the thought that her darling daughter came up with a name for my owl from the other side of the world.. So Pipin it is don't you think its perfect?..
So hop on over to have a peek around desks at Julia's.  Make sure you have a cuppa ready before you venture into the wonderful world of Julia's Stamping Ground

Thanks for visiting my blog and all the lovely comments I enjoy reading every one.

Happy, Smile, Laugh, Love.

Knew I wanted to put this sentiment on my next journal page.  I just think this sentiment is such a lovely one.  I got this pretty purple when I went shopping yesterday and could not wait to get it onto a page in my art journal.. I am really loving this journal its my 'Just create' journal.  So to me that means that I am free to muck it up and just do it.. All mistakes are learning curves and just an added touch or a surprise in this journal.. Isn't it great to have that freedom to just go for it and it doesn't matter what comes in the end.  You just never know what you will end up with..
I like the size of this too. Its not too big and really like the horizontal pallet to work on.  Well some dragonflies and a lone butterfly, both made an appearance on this page.. I really like how they look like they are zooming over the flowers.. I also got the crafters workshop hexagon stencil have been looking at this one for a while on all sorts of projects. I decided of all the stencils this is the one I see most used as it has all the sizes of hexagons on the one stencil, bit of a bonus.

Have a great day

CAS-UAL FRIDAYS #91

I really liked the idea of putting some silver on one of my cards and thought I would go with some silver embossing..  When I received this set of stamps 'outlined occasions'  it was a free set with some other supplies I bought at Stampin'up.  I had tried to color them and never liked it.  I had never thought to emboss the words.  It was when I saw Christina's DT card at Cas-ual Fridays that I thought to have another look at this set of stamps and it just clicked to emboss them..  I wanted to use this cute ribbon that I just bought last week such sweet little presents on it.. The Designer series paper is from Kaszazz.  So I went with black white and silver.  This was such a surprisingly quick card to do, it happens like that very rarely for me...

So here is my card....

Have a great day

CAS(E) this sketch! #16

I needed some sympathy cards in my stash of cards, I find these ones very hard to make at any time let alone when you really need to have one.. When I saw the sketch this week from Karolyn Loncon at Case this sketch. I knew it was the perfect one for the image that I wanted to use..
I did a bit of water coloring and if you follow my blog you will know how rare it is that I actually water color or color anything, but I did like the soft way this stamped image looked water colored.  The image is a stamp set from Stampin'up 'Echoes of kindness'.  I water colored it in Wisteria Wonder and a Tim Holtz distess ink, Spun sugar, such a pretty soft pink.

So here is my card...

I would also like to welcome as new followers to my blog Kaz and Kay.  Hope you enjoy having a pop around my blog and having a peek at what I do..

Have a great day

Just Create!

I have been doing my art journal today and I had lots of fun again. Really like the messiness of it all after having to be so clean with cards.. I have been following along and getting lots of tips from Tracy Weinzpfel . I also watched this video Mixed Media Friday and then I tipped my scrap container out and went for it.. Then I mixed up some paint in some mini misters with a bit of direction from Eliza  and there ya go one messy fun page in my art Journal.. Used a  charcoal pencil to outline a bit here and there, really like the smudging part..

So here is my Journal page...

So second page done and dusted this is a different book than the other one that I started wanted to have this one long. This is the first page of this one and I am telling myself that its ok to 'just create'..

Have a great day
Sandy :)

WOYWW #194

I have a bit more of a vertical photo of my desk today.. Can you see my WOYWW badge?  I have been having a bit of fun the last week or so mucking around in mixed media.  But still have done 2 cards for challenges in the last few days they have been fun to do.. Need a few get well cards for my stash as have none of those, went to grab one and didn't have any.  I then started looking at what I didn't have.. No baby, no get well and no sympathy cards, even need a couple more for the guys.. Hmm will have to rectify that.. What is missing from your stash of cards??
Lots of people have been commenting on my owl on my desk, he is a cutie, think he needs a name any ideas??.  He is very heavy and comes in handy when you need a weight to hold something down.

Here is the card on my desk so you don't have to squint..

Muse Challenge #5

I am really enjoying playing along at the Muse card club. This weeks muse is Marion Vagg.. I really like the striped background effect across Marion's card and knew I had the perfect paper for me to use as soon as I saw it..  I so like stripes and really like the 6 x 6 paper pack from Kaisercraft, the Le chateau Collection so pretty..   I stamped up the birdcage and bird from the Aviary set from Stampin'up, fussy cut and backed it in that lovely slate color I am fond of at the moment..  Happy Birthday words are from Kaszazz..

So here is my card...

Marion Vagg

Thanks everyone for all of the lovely comments, I am really loving making my cards and joining along with all the amazing challenges out there.. Its just so wonderful to have all of this terrific inspiration, right at my fingertips..

Challenges 4 Everybody #14

I have been learning how to do mixed media, looking at youtube video's and following along with mixed media Monday.  I also did the 2013 creative jumpstart there is a link on my sidebar keep it in mind for next year.  It was packed with great youtube videos and fantastic information.   It is all very new to me and I am enjoying getting paint and ink all over my new craft mat and having lots of fun.. You have a whole new stock of items that you need and I am gathering info as I go.. This is the first time I have used items like Gesso, charcoal pencils and I actually painted the flowers, with the help of an outline from a stencil.  It was also blended with a blending tool around the edges and the white spots are from painted bubble wrap, so many layers of fun..

My stems and leaves are pretty ordinary but I do like the flowers, and the background. Of course I used my favourite stamp set from Stampin'up for the words 'live like you mean it'.  It is bright and cheerful and only measures 6 inches square,so not too big.  I even used Tim Holtz crackle on the leaves of the flowers.  I must have had that crackle for about 4 months and hadn't used it and I also popped a bit of bling in the centre for the stamens.   So hope you all like it, I had fun doing it.. I have 6 of these was supposed to be a calendar but think I might make it into a wall hanging or book.

Valentine Aussie tag swap

Note ... I am so sorry I put the wrong link in to Julia's stamping ground and if you have arrived here is a link to the right post WOYWW

I am in a Aussie tag swap every month and the recipient Tanya or TK has now received her tag. So I can show you what the sneak peek was from a few days ago.    I am really liking the challenge of making tags to a theme for every month.. This month being February its a Valentine theme.  I went for a non traditional color and really kind of liked the blue..  I found this lovely vintage lady on the Free vintage digi stamps website.  I  love the hat on her with the scarf tied around her neck.  I used my new lace stamps from Kaisercraft and liked how they gave a bit of a pattern on the top and bottom of my tag.  Few pearls here and there and then that lace that I just love to use, victoria from Stampin'up.

So here is my tag...

I received my tag this month from the lovely Diane of Cardenofelan it is just the loveliest tag and there is so much detail and lovely little added touches.
Thanks so much Diane...

Here is Diane's tag....

Valentine cased card

My daughter found a card on Pinterest and said mum can you make this card for me for her boyfriend.. Yes sure then when I looked I went hmm.  Gee its hard to case a card I didn't have any of the same stuff.

Heart.... nope smaller one, yep that should do.
Ribbon....  oh I have that heart ribbon that my daughter gave me off a parcel bit of recycling.
Envelope... hmm that  was tricky but got it, with a little bit of tricky punch manoeuvring.
Embossed background...  Yea that didn't turn out as good as I would of liked but its ok..
Corners.. Tricky and lots of layers, more than it looked at first glance at the card. Had to find a stamp that looked interesting that small.
Love... Yes I found love lol..

So here is my version...

So then I had to do a bit of detective work to find the original person to give them credit.. So tracked them down and it is Ellen from the The serendipitous stamper I thought her card was just lovely. So I did my best to case it. So take a look at Ellen's blog as I don't think it is right to copy and paste her card to my blog but the lovely link is there for you to take a peek and tell me what you think..

I would also like to welcome a new follower to my blog Jedd.  Glad you joined as a follower to my little blog..
I appreciate everyone taking the time out of there busy day to leave comments on my blog..  Thanks so much..

Have a great day

Oh and one thing that wasn't on the list, but thought it was an essential purchase.  Just the cutest little stand for my journal..  Love the bird on the bottom of it and it has such a lovely vintage look to it.

Muse Challenge #3

I wanted to play along again with the new challenge over at Muse Card Club this week. The muse card done by Laurie Willison at Soap box creations was lovely really liked the 2 panels of the background it really caught my eye..  I really liked the patterned paper of the panels too, so thought I would make some patterned paper of my own.. So I stamped away with the Stampin'up Fresh Vintage stamp and came up with my own version.  The ribbon was dug out of my stash, always good to use something you have had for ages..

So here is my card....

WOYWW #192

I took a photo of my desk yesterday when I had paint everywhere.. I know different for me right.. I had a go at a Mixed Media class yesterday.  Then got to it and tried it myself in my new art journal and had a blast.
So here is my desk yesterday...

With stamping and some
 bubble wrap painting
But look what I went and picked up last night! Can you see what it is I am excited about in today's photo of my desk?  Yes its my craft mat, boy will I be able to get messy with ink and paint now..  Woot Woot.. I had a voucher from a local company Kaszazz if you bought $50 worth of stuff you got $50 free so bought my mat, 2 sets of stamps and another Happy Birthday stamp, as you can never have too many Happy Birthday stamps. Some more beautiful antique brads and there is 120 sheets of cardstock.  So that will be craft supplies for ages now.
Well except for the list I wrote yesterday for Gesso, one step crackle, watercolor crayons etc etc.. Hmmm I think I need to win lotto just to keep up with my craft supplies.. lol ..
My desk today......

A few people asked to see on here what I was doing with all those hearts on my desk for the last few weeks, so for you here they are..

So hop on over to have a peek around desks at Julia's.  Make sure you have a cuppa ready before you venture into the wonderful world of Julia's Stamping Ground

Trying Art Journaling...

This is the first time I have put paint on paper and boy did I have fun.. Eliza of Queenartoypia said to try this live link in the USA to the lovely Tracey.  So thought well I can have a go at that..

So I bought my first ever Art Journal and here I go..

This is the link to the  Vintage paper I used, I decoupaged it on to the paper. You really cant see very much of it but it was supposed to blend into the background, but I think I got a bit carried away with the pretty blue.. I used Kaisercraft paints as they where what I had.  Will have to get a nice green for the leaves but I liked that bright yellow and the blue.  I need some make up sponges, I just sponged it on with a sponge and it was a bit bubbly with the texture.  Good old bubble wrap for the blobs of circles, like the look of them. Tim Holtz stamp for the sentiment.
I got very covered with paint and had a smile on my face the whole time.
So I know, different for me hey!
But that's what I want to do this year is try all different things and expand my knowledge of art, and the many ways you can do so many different techniques.

Have a great day
Sandy :)

So this weeks image is so cute, I used the Bugaboo word stamp Blossom-word-block. I really like the word blocks they have a few of them.  It looks really sweet and with all of the Bugaboo images they print up so well.  Really crisp words and cute flower on this one..  I printed out 6 on the one sheet of cardstock.  I blended with my blending tool with Raspberry Ripple ink for the flower and Gumball green for the leaves on one of the images. Then I cut that out and popped it on another image, so easy and love that blended look..  I am liking banners on cards lately and popped the top 2 banners up with the blossom block, to add a bit of dimension..

Muse Challenge #2

I wanted to play along with the new challenge over at Muse Card Club this week. The muse card done by Suzanne Dahlberg of The card yard it had me intrigued with its funky top cut and bright colors..

Suzanne Dahlberg
I used my creative cutting system oval shapes to get the top and it worked really well.  Suzanne has a great tutorial on her blog showing how to do the top cut with the bigshot and nesting dies.   I loved the flowers and the bright colors that Suzanne used.  I knew I had this pretty bright floral paper so I just went with that..  I found the ribbon in my stash and liked the pretty flower on it so popped that on.  I found this a fun card to make and would definitely do this shape of card again..

I would like to welcome a new follower today Mary.  Hope you enjoy having a peek around my little blog of cards..

Have a great day

It felt funny to put so little on the card after all the layers I usually use.  But  I am always up for a challenge and so this is what I came up with.
So quick post up of my card...

This is the back of the card..

So that was a bit of fun to do
