Day 29/30 Art every day Month

I have so enjoyed my month of art and it has really helped me. Its been great to focus on finishing many unfinished pages and I am feeling more confident with just doing anything I feel like doing on my pages now.
Took me a bit of time to finish these pages. Well those circles I kept looking at them and thinking hmm pictures in them maybe.. Nope will cover all that great texture, from the start I was thinking birds.. Then it struck me the perfect thing to do with those round shapes OWLS... I love owls and I love to draw them and make them out of book paper. All month I have not done one owl I don't know why.. So yesterday I set about on spraying and cutting out ears and wings.. That took a bit of time with all the different sized owl bodies. Then there was all the drying before I could go to it with my pens and finish it off.. Painted the branches as they had to have feet and be on something as they where not flying.. Buttons for eyes and they where done. So finished off my month with 5 owls on my pages and I really like them, will have to make something like this on a canvas..
Quote is... Observe and reflect become a little wiser every day...

Day 28 Art every day Month

I was watching a Donna Downey inspiration Wednesday Video  I so wanted to have a try at this with my plasterers tape its not the same as what Donna uses but I have not been able to find that one yet.. I do like the one I have it has little squares.  So I started with filling my page with plasterers tape. I also taped a piece of scrap white card stock and cut circles out with my bigshot and dies.. Then I glued it all down as well as some scrap music paper with modpodge. Painted that with hotpink in the background and then the circles with some turquoise.. That's it for today will have to have a think about what is going to go on next.. More stencils maybe some birds not sure yet..

Day 27 Art every day Month

So what did I do today on the page to finish it off.. Well I wrote the word Love 3 times then went to it with my pens.. I sprayed orange on the fairy image from Bugaboo that I found in my left over pile to match my background. Then I got the piece of linen and wiped up the excess. Bit of plasterers tape and some hessian and I really think that's it for this page..  I was going to put more hearts on it but kind of like the little subtle pink hearts on the washi tape popping up there and didn't want to cover them up. On the image from bugaboo it says... I'll love you until the day after forever.

Day 25 Art every day Month

Today I was set a challenge by my friend Sandee.. Sandee talked about
Typography- The work of producing printed pages from written material.
Also about what your individual handwriting means..  Both very interesting topics.. Read more at Frosted Designs
I so need to work on my handwriting and not be afraid to just write things in my journal.. So I accepted that challenge and ran with it and created 2 pages in my journal.. I had fun writing things in all different ways..  I know now that more of my handwriting will be appearing in more of my journal. I started with just spraying the Kaisercraft doily stencil on it.  I used the positive on the right side and then flipped it onto the left..  That gave me some edges to work with and I liked the way the quote fit all around the circle, that was just fluky.. I added the tag in but wanted to still be able to see it and what was around it. So I stuck some acetate on there, making a pocket with glue dots and glue will see if it holds.. I had a lot of fun finding things to write in all the little spots.. Click on the photo to make it bigger if you are having trouble reading the writing...

Challenges 4 Everybody #33 & Day 24 Art Every day Month

Well its time for a new challenge over at Challenges 4 Everybody We have as our sponsor this week  Bugaboo stamps  If you link up with your entry and you are randomly picked, you get to pick 7 free digis of your choice. So come on and join in the fun as always, its Anything goes.

This week I  thought I would get some Christmas cards done when I saw this cute Snow globe Reindeer silhouette image. I saw this and I knew it had to be a shaker card but I have not made one for ages. So off I went to youtube and I found this great  Shaker card tutorial .  I had little stars for the shaker part, thought it worked well with my night time Santa on his sleigh. I popped some silver stickles around the outside edge to give it more sparkle and some icicle stickles on the trees on the inside.. Of course Rudolph had to have a spot of red stickles on his nose.

Day 23 Art every day Month & Aussie tag swap...

Today I am working on my Design Team project for Challenges 4 Everybody and I cant show it yet, but if you follow my blog you will know that on Day 17 I made a tag for my swap partner Diane. Diane has received her tag in the mail and now I can show what was in the little parcel.. I am in an Aussie tag swap and for the month of November the theme was 'Fashion'.

The tag background I modpodged book paper onto. I then used the Dylusions diamond stencil and the walnut stain ink and blended with the blending tool. Then I went over it with picket fence paint to blend it into the background.  I used the dress form from Tim Holtz and cut out the dress with this as well.. Trimmed it with pearls. The lace is the Victoria lace by Stampin'up.  Decorative brad through the top and distressed and edged with walnut stain.  Typed the quote with my typewriter "Fashions fade. Style is eternal" Yves Saint-Laurent.

Day 22 Art every day Month

Yesterday I knew there was something missing from my page.. Well after thinking about it I knew what it was, flowers and butterflies of course. I stamped the flowers and butterflies with a Stampin'up stamp and coloured them in with watercolour paints. I added a few little Kaisercraft flower rub-ons, they where a bit too dark, too black, so I got some picket fence paint, the Tim Holtz one and just popped a little on top to blend them into the background a bit. Then I smoothed it around with my finger. I think this is finished now, I like the little pops of colour the butterflies add. There is silver sparkle here and there as well and the little trails off the butterflies are done with a black sharpie pen..  This whole page was just so I could keep some of these quotes that I like and not loose them. Also to try out and see if I could type my words with my typewriter on baking paper or I have been told in the states you call it parchment paper (in Australia we call it greaseproof paper) and modpodge them on without it smearing..  So lots of experimenting on this page...

Day 21 Art every day Month

I am not sure if I am finished with this yet but here it is for today.. I like the border and the frame's, they are a stencil from Typo. The background is a Gelli plate print.. Think the nifty way of typing and sticking the words on worked really well with greaseproof paper.. Saw that with Donna Downey today and had to try it.. She stamped the words but I don't have stamps that say the things that I want to say. So I went to my 35 year old trusty typewriter, was thinking they are so going to smear but nope, typed them on greaseproof paper and stuck them on with modpodge, worked a treat.   Know what I will be doing a lot of now, love my old typewriter.  I think I just need something else in with the words will think on it..

Long shot of my desk today and you can see I have got in quite a mess.. I have 2 of my journals on there the main one is drying the other just sitting at the end there, don't know why it is still there.. You can just see my new Ikea cart making an appearance again, love it just what I needed for all my paints its working really well. Hmm bit of a mess, ink, scissors, paint (must close the top of that), glass of water, modpodge, stencils, washi tape. Bits of the paper from the back of the rolls of adhesive..
Lucy just wanted to get in here too she is quite incorrigible

Day 19 Art every day Month

Today It was a use what was leftover from yesterday day.. I painted the background with a baby wipe in turquoise and a bit of yellow.. Just needed colour on there nothing fancy.. The calico was a bit that was ripped off from yesterday so that went on across the page can you recognise what the other fabric is? Well its the baby wipe from the clean up, all dried.  Bit of hessian on there here and there more bits of leftover.. Even the cardstock with the stamping of the quote, the hand and the word imagination was bits of cardstock that had the edges roughed on the picture from yesterday, but I had cut it down because it was too big.. The tag was the only new thing I grabbed to use on here just to give it a bit more something, something, even that had had the edges roughed already. I used the dylusions diamond stencil on the tag background with some vintage photo ink..  The sewing machine sewed around every edge on here.. The stamp set I used was from Stampers anonymous, Tim Holtz Warehouse District.

Day 18 Art every day Month

This is inspired by 2 people really the first one was France Papillon her Week 60 journal on Monday she used linen and cotton for her background. I so loved the look of it I had to have a go.. I used linen and calico the calico is on the top I popped a bit of turquoise paint on my desk and sprayed it with water.. Then I crunched up the calico and dipped and then wiped it up to get my splotches.. The card that is on the right.  It was influenced by Tammy at Daisy Yellow and her index cards with her sewing.. This is washi tape covered cardstock and then I sewed it around the edge and in swirls on it.. The whole reason why I did these pages was to pop this in my journal.  The quote was on my desk as well cut out and not used, funny how many bits I used up on this.. I love sewing on my pages so this was a great opportunity to sew all sorts of bits on here. Linen, calico, hessian, plasterers tape and paper all got sewed on here.. Oh and of course a button..

Day 16 Art every day Month

I worked on another of my unfinished backgrounds today. This one was embossed with the Balzar Design Mini bubble doily stencil. Its one of my favourites.  I had also modpodged book paper and some scrap paper in the background and used my hexagon stencil as well.. Outlined some of them in white pen.. Well that was where I had finished till today when I popped some washi tape on, love that chevron red one. Then of course I doodled around the edge for a border.. I stenciled in some turquoise with the Dylusions Diamond border. Then it was a hmm, need a focal point. So I loved doing Ruby Rainbow in watercolour last week so this time I used Ruby's friend as she was so neglected sitting there.. So Love Struck Lucy jumped on the page after getting the watercolour treatment in red and yellow..  Had to put her hearts on as I already had the Quote picked out and cut up on my desk. So this all came together nicely.. Quote for today is "Let the beauty of what you love be what you do".

Day 15 Art every day Month

So far so good with doing art every day month.. I have not always finished something every day but that is not the point of it for me really, its the doing and the practice of it that I am loving.. I have had this flower modpodged on this page for a while. I cut the flower out of scrap printed paper and had painted it around the edge in the mauve but it just looked bland.. Something was wrong with it. Doodle around the edge of it all was the answer I thought. Its my favourite thing to do at the moment.. So more practice at that and it really made the flower come to life, it's quite dazzley now.. Quote for today "Flowers are our greatest silent friends"

Day 14 Art every day Month

I finished the page from yesterday with the Gelli print background. I added some chevron washi tape in turquoise and finished off the white on the border. I stamped the word Dream on the side with the orange paint, had to touch it up a bit to make it filled in and went inside with the white pen.. Then doodled around the edge so it kind of blended with the border. Popped a flower in her hair. The flower I have had sitting on my desk for ages I made them after watching a video I saw from France Papillon its modelling paste and paint, but you make it on plastic and then you can lift if off, they take a while to dry so best made the day before use. They are very flexible and feel really lovely.. I need to make some more as this was my last one. Popped a decorative brad in the middle of the flower, as a girls got to have a bit of bling. The quote for today I wrote around her is "She turned her cant's into cans and her dreams into Plans"...

I have been out and about today so only half done with my page today.. It is a Gelli print background with some Dylusion stencils.  I used one of my Typo stencils for the profile and am in the process of doodling in white around the border.  I still have to do the quote and bit more to it.. So its a work in progress today.. I will get more done tomorrow..

WOYWW #232

Hi all, I took a long shot of my desk today as I wanted to show you my new cart.. I went to Ikea I have had my eye on one of these Raskog carts for ages and we finally went to Ikea and woot I got one.. Isnt it pretty, its my favourite colour blue well turquoise to be exact.. Such a sturdy cart and just ideal for storing all my paints. So on my desk are the makings of some Christmas cards and some new buttons. The plate I used to get the circle on my watercolour painting, that worked really well.. Oh and my watercolour journal is still there after yesterdays photo. Under my desk that you usually don't see is my big pink bin, and my 3 draws of bits and pieces..  Mittens wanted to be in the photo today she is sitting on my chair and says hi.. I have been joining in on Art every day Month so far I have managed to do something every day.. This is a close up of the watercolour on my desk today. More info about this Here .

Day 12 Art every day Month

I was experimenting with blue watercolours I just wanted to see it I could get them to blend together. Yea it was a lot harder than I thought and I ended up with something I didn't really like.  Well what to do with the pages.. So thought hmm black would stand out on this background and probably draw the eye away from what I don't like about my blending. I love trees always have had a fascination with them, the way the branches curve and go off in different directions.. Thought this kind of looked like a night well to me in the end it did.. So on went the black trees, too dark I thought. So white leaves go for the whole black and white thing.. Yep now I like it..  So quote for today I didn't want to put it across the page so though about putting it on a circle. I got a small saucer out from the kitchen and lightly drew around it with my black montana paint pen.. Then with my signo white pen I wrote the quote for today.. " For every dark night, there's a brighter day"..

Day 11 Art every day Month

Sandee  from In the hills of North Carolina is a Design Team member for Frosted designs . Sandee did her new weekly youtube video of Sunday's with Sandee.  I have been following along with these and just loved the technique she did today it was with waxed paper and fantastic. The big yellow flower and the spotty background and how she showed it with a watercolour background and without, I just had to have a go.. So I sprayed my wax paper with the yellow as I so loved Sandee's yellow background.  I then opened some of my new sprays and dobbed the wax paper with spots of ink spray. Then set it aside to dry like I was told.. Sprayed with water and pressed on my paper.. That was my background so easy and so quick and love the results.. Next I cut up my wax paper into a flower.. Gee it gives a lovely texture once it is all modpodged on.. Sandee said not to waste the paper towel so I used that for my centre like she did, more texture to the page.. Great hints happening here from her..  So Next I thought hmmm yep time for some doodling.. I had so wanted to doodle around a flower for a while but my flowers always seem too small to get the effect that I have wanted.  So today with the big flower yep its time for some more doodling.. So the stem and around the flower got the black montana pen and the signo white pen around the petals.. For the white on the stem I used Gesso and a paint brush. The whole page was just fun from start to finish and another new technique was learned. The quote for today is "Flowers don't worry about how they're going to bloom. They just open up and turn towards the light and that makes them Beautiful". Jim Carry.
