Card 4... Journey...

So I had a bit of a play around with a wonderful free collage paper download from Free Vintage Digitals. Have a look at it its a great one.  I love the digi's you can get from there I always find something to use.. So that was my background sorted, then thought I wanted another balloon on there. So I found some tickets in a Kaisercraft paper pack and cut them out, added a little touch of blue here and there with them. Some little gears from a punch grunged up with walnut stain and a couple of Tim Holtz alterations gears on top. I stamped the word journey on top of a stamped compass image. Liked adding all the layers with this..

So some details here about the facebook group called art aMUSEment, it is run by Kelly Hoernig.  Its a fun group and this year Kelly came up with the idea of picking 52 cards of the same size and doing a card with a theme every week so thought this would be a fun thing to do so I am going to join in. Well as many times as I can.

Happy Mistake..

So I spotted some paper from a parcel I received in the mail and thought oh will drop some Dylusions spray ink on that, like I did last time when I followed along with Sandee.. The only thing last time it was not tissue paper it was greaseproof  paper (Aussie term) or parchment paper, wax paper all the same thing.. So when I went to stick it on that's when I realised whoa this is not right but gee it turned out all sparkly and shiny.. I liked it so much I did not want to put anything over the top so here it is.. It was tricky to stick on as it kept breaking but I just stuck more modpodge on it and stuck it down, I was stubborn with it.. Just wish you could see the shine..

So going to join this up with the Journal 52  as 'Somewhere a simple place'.. Because playing in my new studio/ fun room is definitely my place to be..

Have a great day

Card 3... Artist...

I was a bit stuck with this one until my daughter said Mum the artist is you.  So I thought well I will do all the things I love to do.. So the little birds with buttons, doodled borders and a few little tangles in the corner.  Of course my favorite stencil mini well rounded with Gesso for the finishing touches.

Birds and 36...

I have been loving how France Papillon has been doing her journal pages and then gluing them into the wonderful Finnibar journal. Well I do love to sew, and have been wanting to sew on my journal pages and because they are in a journal that makes it quite hard to do.. So today I was looking around and spied a journal that I had made a while ago and thought there is no reason why I cannot paste watercolour paper into these pages.. So that's what I did.
I find it very freeing not to worry about getting other pages inky or about them getting stuff on them, as I am so messy and still learning so many new techniques..
So today I was watching Limor Webber's wonderful video Here and she showed a watercolour background that I so wanted to try. It was very wet and knew that I would get my journal terribly messy. So the two things came together and this is what I came up with..
Kaisercraft stamp on the side is called 36 my daughters favorite number so I had to get that one.. Two stencils from the Crafters workshop mini flying geese and mini Birds..
Quote is "Its not who you are that holds you back. Its who you think your not'.

Watercolour and Dangles...

Today I  popped some finishing touches on some watercoloured flower pages I have been working on to finish them off.. I added white pen highlights on the flowers and vine.  Coloured in the dangles in red, blue and left some white as I like to just use the colours in my main page in the dangles.. I kind of like some of them left white.  Also added the stems and leaves to the flowers with some black and white doodling.  Some wording across the vine.  Quote is 'Inside us all waiting sits a tiny little adventurous bird'.. Popped my word for the year on the other vine at the bottom 'Explore'..  I am enjoying adding dangles on my pages..

Some bigger pictures so you don't have to squint at them..

Have a great day.

Aussie notecard swap..

This year I am in an Aussie notecard swap, the first swap for January the theme is 'Hello birdie'.  I thought as I am doing more things with paint now that I would try to paint a card so I gathered 3 pieces of watercolour card stock, thinking yep I will practice this to see how it goes. Well to my surprise all 3 turned out so I ended up with 3 cards.. I sent one off to my swap partner for this month Judith thinking I wonder what she will think? As this is all still feels very new to me but I so enjoy painting these little birds. (I just received an email saying she loved that I took my card making to a new level with my own art work.)  I had done them on a ATC and in my art journal but for some reason had never thought to make them into a card.
The background is done with a baby wipe. I then used the mini well rounded stencil 6x6 by The Crafters workshop. I love this stencil I have used it heaps since I bought it.   I painted the bird with Gesso, then again in yellow.. Went around the outside with a charcoal pencil and blended.. Drew the legs beak and wing on with a sharpie.. Then glued on a small button for the wing. Finished it off with the 'just for you' from Stampin up.  This was really fun to do and know I will make more of these hmm maybe a blue bird or an owl next time..

I am going to enter this in the
Southern girls challenge New..
Well this is new for me to paint my cards so think that qualifies..

Have a great day

WOYWW #241

Well its too darn hot here today its 42 Celsius or 107 Fahrenheit and I am working where it is cooler in the dining room with the Air conditioning. Well you can see my cute owl coasters and my pens and of course my watercolour journal.  I am doing some dangles across the top of that watercolour that I started a few days ago..  I drew some birds think they look quite cute in blue sitting there and just some simple flowers.. I am loving relaxing and doing the dangles across the top think they have appeared on quite a few things that I have done lately.. Still have to colour them all in and outline the flowers but it is coming along and have nearly filled this book with all of my watercolours. Its been a fun book to do with just sunny flowers and doodling the bright colours make me happy.

Julia from  WOYWW gets us all together every Wednesday to have a look at desks from all over the world.. Grab a cuppa, I have mine here, and take a browse.. Thanks for taking the time to comment and enjoy the blog hopping around all the desks.

Have a great day.

Believe in Yourself...

So today I tried out another Sunday with Sandee technique that you can find the youtube video at  Frosted designs  This was a fun one I had trouble with all the white space but hey its different anyway and I am always up for trying something different.. I added dangles, well of course I could not resist and made my little bird blue.. Added a few dragonfly rubbons and lots of black and white doodling..  I really liked the music notes and the paper over the top that worked really well..  The quote is ' A bird sitting in a tree is never afraid of the branch breaking because her trust is not in the branch but her own wings'.

Have a great day

Card 2... Postage...

This week the prompt was 'Postage' So I had this wonderful paper with a postcard design from Kaisercraft. So I modpodged that down tore the edges and aged it with walnut stain. I used a stencil with some Gesso from The Crafters workshop design by Ronda Palazzari called Mini Sweet Home for the houses.  The Journey stamp from Kaisercraft.. The real stamp is one that I saved from a letter I really liked how it was black and white.. Was another fun one to do and like this size card to work on..

Journal 52 week 1

Few friends are joining in on a group called Journal 52.. This could be fun so did a journal page with the first prompt.  This week the prompt was Up Up and Away!! So anything you can think of with this theme..

Here is a link to it if you would like to join in too.. Journal 52 week-1 There is a facebook group and a flickr group you don't have to blog about it..

So this is done with a Gelli plate background and the stencil of the girl with the balloons is from my Typo set of stencils.. I have been wanting to use this one..  There is some zendangles across the top they are just for Sandee... Bit of doodling around the edge for the border and a journal block just to say what it is all about..

Have a great day

WOYWW #240

Hi to all and hope you are all recovered from the holiday break and not stuck in the awful blizzards that I see on the news that is hitting America and floods in England..
Wacky weather conditions at the moment for you all.
This week on my desk hmm let me see well there is my new google mug with some green tea in it.. I brought another of those stickles holders as I had enough to fill 2 of them..  My journal is there getting rather full now, this page was a fun one.. I was moving something on a shelf and a container I keep with bits fell down all over the table and I thought gee that looks pretty there.. So I scooped them all up and stuck them all down on my pages.. I then gesso'd over it all and painted with turquoise paint. It was lots of fun to do.. More info on the pages Here The owl from Eliza has popped on my desk to say hi, he's next to the modpodge. I received him in the mail over Christmas it was a lovely surprise..
As you know we live in the country well we lock up our chickens at night as there are foxes around we call this cage Fort Knox.. Well if you look at the bottom of the door here hubby was astonished to find a turtle stuck under the door when he was going to let the chickens out.. It was wedged in there tight too.. He took photos as he didn't think anyone would believe him.  He popped him in the vegetable garden to recover. Now this is the second one that has made it into our garden. We don't live near any rivers well not close that you would think you would have turtles popping by anyway.

That container of stuff...

You know when that container of stuff you keep falls down that one too many times.. Well I scooped it all up and well its not going anywhere now even stuck the string down on there..  Lots of modpodge later and well this is what it looked like... Bit of a mess hey.. There was no placement here it was just randomly stuck on there..

So then I got to it with Gesso and covered it all up with two layers of it.  You can still see some of the background colours poking through..  Next I gently brushed over it with my favorite colour turquoise paint.  I stamped the words including my word for the year explore and popped them along the string. I used a bit of inka gold here and there to highlight a few things like the string and the birdcage and bird.. This was so much fun to do and it really emptied that container...  Have you got a container that is overflowing like me?

Just for fun I am going to link this up at

Have a great day

Card 1... Box...

So I am in a facebook group called art aMUSEment, it is run by Kelly Hoernig.  Its a fun group and this year Kelly came up with the idea of picking 52 cards of the same size and doing a card with a theme every week so thought this would be a fun thing to do so I am going to join in. Well as many times as I can.
This week the word is box so I brought some cards from the second hand shop some quite big 140 mm x 85 mm or 5.5 inch x 3.34 inch so a good size they are a game of learning times tables..
I then painted some Gesso on the card as the cards are quite glossy... Then grabbed a baby wipe and painted with blue and yellow.  Then stenciled with some black.   I got to it making a little box and painted it and stuck that on with dimension foam.. Well Tracy from Mixed Media Monday was talking about choosing a word for the year and mine is explore.  I chose explore as I am on this journey to explore Mixed Media and art Journaling and its a whole new world to explore for me.  So I popped that word in the little box.. I just picked up this set of stamps just last week and had not chosen my word at that time.. When I picked up the set its called 'pack your bags collection' from Kaisercraft all I saw on this set was the word journey and thought I could use that a bit in my art journal pages.  So had a closer look today and wow it had my word on it Explore so how great is that.. All the stamps I used today came from this same set so that worked on this really well.. I added the date from my date stamp as it had date written on the stamp.  It was all meant to be hey.

Challenges 4 Everybody # 37 DT

Its time again for another Challenges 4 Everybody DT post..
This week we are sponsored by Sassy Studio Designs
Have you joined in yet on the challenge as always its Anything goes.

These where such fun journal pages to do and well let me start at the very start of the background to try to explain how I did this..  I started with a Donna Downey stencil and some molding paste and covered the whole of both pages.. Rather cool stencil has small dots and splodges so that worked well.. Then I got a card and painted with it, dipped the card in the turquoise paint and ran it down the page, sprayed with water to get some drippage.. Went around the edge in the hot pink.. Then I used the Dylusion alphabet stencil and popped on some letters with burgundy.. Stamped with my new France Papillon design cube, some little stars. I popped some watered down Gesso over the top of them so they blended into the background more.. Next came the circles I had seen France Papillon pop circles across one of her Journal on Monday videos and thought hmm I have a Typo stencil rather cool one so painted that across the pages with some Gesso.. Gelatos next to do a bit of blending on the circles just on one side and blended them with my finger with water. So thought hey they look a bit like moons so that's when I got my world globe out and stamped it with walnut stain sprayed it with water to make it look a bit aged.. I ripped all the edges and lots more blending and spraying with water.. Hmm Quote next to finish it off. I looked for one with world or planets and came up with this one from Oscar Wilde 'Art is the most intense mode of individualism that the world has known'.
I just kind of ran with this and did not know where it was going, funny how it all came together, with just starting with a stencil and some molding paste..

Have a great day.

Aussie Tag swap December..

So this is my final tag for last year for the Aussie tag swap December 2013.. The theme for December was 'A summer Christmas' I really struggled with finding something for this what I had in mind didn't work to start with, so I started all over again and came up with Santa getting towed with the Ute as there is no snow in summer.. For fun I just popped the kangaroo with the Santa hat up there he is kind of guiding the way. What a fun tag swap it has been I have really enjoyed the themes. They challenged me to think outside the box and I really enjoyed making the tags.. The tags I have received have been awesome and I have a lovely collection that I will figure out a way to display.
This year it is a notecard swap so that will be interesting..

Have a great day

Twinkling H2o's....

So I was playing with my new twinkling H2o's such pretty little pots of watercolour.. I was just trying out all the colours too see what they looked like.. I really like the light blue and the yellow has lots of twinkle.. Well I was finished writing on the vine with my white pen it says.. Have fun... Try New things... Be daring.. Just do it... Try it out.. make mistakes its ok.. Thought yep done picked up my water to take a drink and .... Spilt water all over it.. All I could do was laugh..  So that's why its all a bit blurry on the left page.. I was going to leave the background white.  I then changed that and got out my yellow watercolour crayon and coloured it all in and blended it..  Do you think the universe was trying to see if what I wrote was true? Its ok to make mistakes, well it must be after all its only paper..

Have a great day

WOYWW #239

Happy New Year 2014 wow where did last year go so much happened in my crafty life last year.. Discovered mixed media and art journaling.. Learnt a whole new art language in 2013.. Looking forward to what I am going to learn this year..

So WOYWW today finds some dangles.. I have been practising these little dangles and they are so addictive. I did a few on an owl mixed media page a couple of weeks ago and had trouble stopping. So I just started doing this every time I have a spare few minutes and feel like doing something.. Its not finished still colouring in the page on the left side.  Its funny how many coloured pens I have collected and not used. So I am finally getting some use out of them. Got some new storage for my stickles so much better to have them in here, just did not realise how many I had till I started popping them in here though, need another one now.  Just on the right of the screen just popping out of view is my new design cube. I was a lucky winner of a competition over at France Papillon blog and I got to pick one of her lovely stamps and chose her wonderful design cube. I have already popped it on an art journal page, can see this is going to live on my desk and pop up on backgrounds.

Perfect way to start off a new year was a walk along the beach this morning and could not resist popping some writing in the sand..

Julia from  WOYWW gets us all together every Wednesday to have a look at desks from all over the world.. Grab a cuppa, I have mine here, and take a browse.. Thanks for taking the time to comment and enjoy the blog hopping around all the desks.

Happy New Year
Sandy :)
