Earth laughs in flowers...

I have joined up at The Artstronauts club and have been having a wonderful time looking at all the videos and printing out collage sheets to play with.  I made a book that Teesha had in one of her videos made out of scrapbook paper.. It is the perfect size for me to get the hang of it all.. Here are a few of the pages that I have done so far in it..

First time I tried to stay with a theme across all three pages.
Click to make it bigger..

I call them butterfly ladies...

Tried some feather hair.

So just a couple of the pages I have done so far, I have done 11 .. I have about 10 more pages left in the book to do it is fun with all the little flap out pages.. Will have to do a small youtube of it with my phone when it is all finished.
So having fun and find it relaxing just pop my music on and collage away..

Have a great day
Sandy :)

Index Card A Day June 24, 25, 26 & 27

June 24 Brown

I have just joined The Artstronauts club I so love Teesha Moore's style of collage it's just so fun.. Reminds me of when I was in art class at school and we did collage ( I won a prize in the show once for collage when I was in secondary school) I have always been drawn to this style think that is why I have been working so hard on my hand writing, working towards this style of art..
June 25 Maple leaf

It has been so windy here in Australia that I thought that my leaves had to be flying around in that wind...

June 26 Magnifying Glass

You will have to use your imagination for this one for all the tiny little magnifying glasses that I used on my Mandala...

June 27 Album Cover

Showing my age here but the first album cover that came to mind that I thought that I could actually draw was this one.. Was fun to do the sketchy writing..

Come on over to daisyyellow ICAD and find out all the information and join in on the fun... There is still another month to go yet so still plenty of time to play along...

Went to a local festival yesterday and I saw this.. I picked it up tucked it under my arm and continued to look at all the other wonderful things he had.. Knew when I saw this that it had found a new home and it was coming home with me.. The inside paper is 6x 4 1/2 inch with 6 signatures of 24 pages, so its really quite full of paper.
Inside the paper is recycled...

The side and back..

The small details are awesome

June 18 Orange

This one was really just all fun.. I wanted to try out the new Peerless watercolours and I just love them to bits.. The colours are so pretty.. The hearts are done with cut out paper, that I have had on my desk when I have been spraying Dylusions, makes for some interesting colour blends.. I used my typewriter for the wording perfect size for these index cards...
June 19 Harry Potter

Harry potter map from http://huynhv.wordpress.com/page/2/
Harry Potter image from Andy Skinner
As its map week I had to use the marauders map on my Index card.. I had fun drawing the footprints up the side and doing the banner and shield..

 June 20 Candy Wrapper

Used watercolour paints and had a go at drawing some little candies.. Then I just popped the letters to spell out Candy Wrapper on the candies.. I used France Papillon's cube stamp for the little spots.

Index Card A day June 15, 16 & 17

June 15 Stickers

Todays ICAD prompt was stickers and this week an alternative prompt is Maps.. So I had to do a map of Australia.. This was a black and white map and I watercoloured in the little details and the sea.. Few little stickers around the outside and found an Aussie word sticker..

June 16 Roll the Dice

Roll the dice well I was going to just do 2 dice on here but that looked a bit lost on the card so thought about what was my favourite dice game to play when I was little.. This is the one that came to mind instantly so made my own little playing board.. I used Sandee's Limbo lettering so good practice for that..

June 17 Polka Dots

I sketched this on a rough background of some acrylic paint.. So thought just to pop the polka dots in her hair with a staple.  Think I will do some more sketching of faces its a good practice size..

Come on over to daisyyellow ICAD and find out all the information and join in on the fun...

The woods would be silent...

I was watching a tutorial from Diane Reaveley with her using the dylusions sprays and there was lots of tips in this tutorial from Scrapbook expo. Take a look here at the youtube there are so many little tips.. I liked the one about leaving the white spray on its side so that the pigment does not get all clogged in your spray bottle..

So out came my sprays as I am still learning how to use them and I made this background.. I made 2, this was kind of the clean up page and I really liked it so I put this bird stencil on it that I have from Typo.  I used Sandee's Limbo lettering to do the quote.  'The woods would be silent if no birds sang there except those that sang best'... I picked this quote as it's kind of telling me that. No one would do art if only the people that thought they where the best did it...
So hope you get time to play and make some art... :)
I am going to enter this at
Simon Says stamp blog Wednesday challenge Stencil it

June 12 Paisley

Now I had more fun with this one lots of doodling and just used a sharpie markers to colour it in.

June 13 Book Review

Ripped out a book page and glued it on a card.. Then I circled the letters spelling 'Book Review'.  Next because its collage week I collaged some cut out books out of a magazine and went around them in brown marker.. Some brown Gelato and a bit of watered down Gesso over the book paper.. Washi tape letters at the side..

June 14 Magenta

Trying to experiment with more collage type cards so this is paper weaving. Was fun to do something different...

Index card a day #10

June 10 The Beatles

For this prompt on my index card, I had to do this as its my favourite song they sing.. I did this with Neocolour II and a waterbrush.. The bird is a Tim Holtz die cut, handy little die cut that one.. Just in case you don't know The Beatles song I am referring to, here is a link for youtube. Its the 50th anniversary of The Beatles coming out to Australia this month so thought it was great that I got to do something with that theme..

Having a great time doing these. So come on over to daisyyellow ICAD and find out all the information and join in on the fun...

Index Card A Day June 8 and 9

June 8 Mandala

Mandala's are always fun to do, start with a seed and just so from there.. I like to have the little ones come off the main image, looks like its self seeding a new generation.

June 9 Alphabet

I was looking for a 'Pangram' a sentence with all the letters of the alphabet... We all know 'The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog' from typing class. But I had never seen this one, although I did modify it a little as it did not have every letter, but now it does...

Have a great day
Sandy :)

Galaxy...

I have been doing the Index card a day challenge.. Last week the prompt was Galaxy and I wanted to spray with my Dylusion ink to do some backgrounds so I popped them in my journal and sprayed away.. Less cleaning up and I got these great windows.. So kept going and finished with the index card and I had all these left overs.. Typed words from my typewriter and pieces of deli paper.. So just popped them all on this journal page and had some fun doing some alien blobby doodles.. Quote from star wars.. A long time ago in a galaxy far far away...

Have a great day
Sandy :)

Sunshine...

Wanted to experiment with the neocolour II a bit more in my journal.. This is not watercolour paper and wanted to just see what it was like in here.. It does not blend as well but kind of like the streaky textured look I got.. Had fun doodling those rays from the sun so all in all was fun to do..

Quote on here is... Turn your face to the sun and all of the shadows fall behind you...

Index Card A Day. June 5,6 & 7...

I am enjoying these little daily index cards they are a fun size 3X5 inch and don't take long to do.. I find them just big enough without being too small to work on..  Then again I do like small journals too..
June 5. Prompt Galaxy

I used dylusion inks splashed with water for background.. The planets are deli paper Gelli prints cut out with a circle punch..My trusty old typewriter was used to type up the quote.  I just had to use this star wars line on here..

June 6 Nail Polish

Neocolour II with a waterbrush on a sketch of a nail polish container.. I used block lettering this time for the quote.. Tried a bit of shading too..

June 7 Yellow

So last one for this week thought I would round it off with a bit of Zentangle.. Neocolour II for the yellow background..
So come on join in the fun and just have a go and play with those art supplies that you have not tried and see what we can come up with.

Index Card A Day June 4

Today the prompt was puzzle.. So I used my Sizzix puzzle die and cut it out using a piece of Gelli print.  I left a piece out as I wanted to write a quote, one that I was thinking about when I was cutting out the puzzle pieces.. So I wrote this quote.. Sometimes life is a matter of finding that missing piece of the puzzle..

So come on join in the fun and just have a go and play with those art supplies that you have not tried and see what we can come up with.

Finding these are just a fun little project and think I am getting the hang of the Neocolour II.. The weekly text prompt is making me think about the different styles of lettering so having my Joanne Sharp book of whimsical lettering and all the practice that Sandee has been giving me with the lettering is coming in handy..

Challenges 4 Everybody #42 DT

Its time to join in the challenge over at Challenges 4 Everybody and for this month we have our first ever themed challenge..

We would like it if you could use our logo to inspire your card, art journal page or wall art and link up your project with us. This will be our last challenge for a few months as we take a summer break, so we thought we would have a bit of a celebration with all our wonderful followers and change it up before we go.

I wanted to have something to look at in my art room, from my time so far with being on the Challenge 4 Everybody Design Team. That is why I decided to paint a wall hanging.. I used the vine and popped a little ladybug on the flower.. I also incorporated the word everybody by using this quote.. 'There is beauty in everything, just not everybody sees it'.  I used Sandee's great 'bar lettering' to do the quote. Pop over and have a look as she has a great tutorial on how to do this. I also had to put some dangles on there as well, as they are just fun to do ..

I will be back with the Design Team after the summer break...

I would also like to link this up with the following challenge.

Index card a day...

I am going to join in on the Index card a day challenge or as they all call it ICAD, over at Daisy yellow. I think it will be fun and I am determined that it is going to be a simple thing for me to do and not try to over think the challenge of it.  I am mainly trying to use some of the different supplies I have and getting to know them better, with how to blend and just what they look like.Today I used the Neocolour II and know they will be making a lot of appearances on the cards in the next 2 months, as I get to know how to blend them with water better and the uses I can come up with for them.. They are a simple supply in the tin to take on the go with a card and a waterbrush.

So for the very first prompt 'Prism' this is my card. I just played with the colours and used the weekly prompt of cut out text.. I will just post these weekly but thought as this is the first one that I would let you know that it started today, so you can join in too if you like.. This is not anything that is supposed to be flashy or anything that takes too long, it is just supposed to to be art for fun.

So come on join in the fun and just have a go and play with those art supplies that you have not tried and see what we can come up with.

For all the details and links go to the Daisy yellow page.. There is also facebook and flickr groups, where people are posting the daily cards.
