Love...

.

Today I was seeing hearts everywhere. Tiare had a lovely 3x4 card, pop over and have a peek. So I thought ok I will have a go at this.. I had this small 8 x 8 inch flat canvas and I modpodged some music paper and book paper on it.. Covered that with gesso and finger painted some turquoise and white Dina Wakley paint over it. I smoothed a heart well I tried to make some texture with Gesso for the heart and added some more at the bottom of the canvas as well.

I added the word love with the Tim Holtz wanted alphabet die cut. Black lines with the side of a credit card and some circles in red with a lid. Painted the heart red and the black outline is from a stabilo pencil I rubbed it in to add some shading.  Prima stamp for the text and then white splatters all over it with a fan brush.. I had fun doing this and of course I had to do it turquoise. I really like the three colours together.  Must be feeling the love today :)

Have a great day

Inspire...

Popping up a quick blog post of what I was up to today while watching Tracy from Mixed Media Monday..  I painted along with Tracy and had some fun with Acrylic paint and my stabilo pencil. Nothing of mine is done lately unless it is sewed so off to the sewing machine I went and sewed around the edges and on the stems.. I had to use the word Inspire from an Urban artist stencil as Tracy Inspires us all the time..

Focus...

My first page of the year in my new Inspiration Journal. I have joined the Donna Downey Inspiration Wednesday group for 2015.. So you will see my pages pop up fortnightly as I follow along..

Lots of Gesso and modeling paste using my Typo stencil for the glasses. Thought that fit well with my word of the year being Focus.
Had fun using glazing fluid that was tricky but think I got it with a bit of help from Tamiko McCurry and finding an alternative to it here in Australia.. Everything has different names when its not golden brand and in our Aussie brand of Derivan Matisse it is called Spreader medium.. Well that is what I used anyway.. It worked for me and I liked the result.. I rubbed too much off to start with, maybe didn't let it dry enough but I just added more and tried it again.. It was very forgiving. This was a lot messier than what I usually do so that was different.. I used a Tim Holtz stamp for my stamping under the inclusion. Had to have a brown hole tag so had to make that with a manilla folder scrap and used my new tiny attacher.. You can't do a Donna Downey inspired year and not have a Tim Holtz tiny attacher and brown holed tags with date stamp it just would not be right..

Tracy over at Mixed Media Monday  the January Creative Dare was for us to pick a word for the year. So my word for the year is Focus. This was also a challenge in the facebook group of Mixing it up to find a word that you want to change or strive for in the new year. I think this word will really help me to focus not get too lost with all the information and groups that are out there.. So I want to focus on the now and not get to involved in too many projects and get overwhelmed.

Have a great day

Creating...

Today I just wanted to get some paint out.  So a baby wipe and some paint for my background. Bit of stamping trying out 2 new Prima stamps I got for Christmas.  They are the washi tape stamp and one from the Coffee break collection. The hearts are a new stencil I got in a mini mixed tin of stencils from Typo, what fun they are to use.. I used the Peacock feather distress ink and the mini blending tool for the hearts. I love how they all came out different shades after hitting the paint.. As usual nothing is finished lately unless it is stitched, so had to sew on the hearts and because that lace fell out of my cupboard today, when I moved something else, it got sewed across the top.. Momento black ink around the edges.
Thought that quote fitted well. Creating for the love of creating frees the soul...
I am entering this over at the Moo-Mania challenge its anything goes.

Inspiration Journal...

.

I did it!! I made my first Donna Downey inspired, inspiration journal... I have an inclusion in it too with all the small flap pages.. Took me 6 shops to find those grommets that go at the side for the ribbon to go through.. Finally found them, they are just called large eyelets here in Australia.. My favourite colour is blue so the first one that I made had to be blue..  I only have one inclusion in it at the moment, I have to save some more random bits for the small flap pages.. I just love that big blue button on the front, looks like its made out of a shell, found it in amongst my stash of buttons..

Looking forward to doing my first page of the year as I joined the Donna Downey Inspiration Wednesday group for 2015.. So you will see my pages pop up fortnightly as I follow along.. But seeing's as I am in Australia I will be having Inspiration Thursday.. :)

Focus...

Its that time of the year again when everyone asks you. What is your word?.. Well I chose FOCUS as my word... Why? Well I seem to be flipping from one thing to another and I think I just need to stop and focus on one thing.. So for the month of January I am having a Zendangle month.. My book is filling up quickly seem to be doing 1 daily sometimes 2 or 3.. They don't always get colour but I'm sure at some point I will come back and colour them all in...
I love the way the Sakura glaze pens make my Zendangles shine and glisten..

Have a great day

Happy New Year Zendangle style...

I have done 5 pages of these since New Years Eve and I cant see me stopping anytime soon.  I am really enjoying doing them. Its been so hot that they have been great to do as I move around the house, with just my handful of supplies. There is no air con in my art room but we do have it in the main rooms and with the temperature hitting 42C or 108F for the a few days these have been great to do. All I am using is my small sketch journal, A5 size. My favourite black pen, Uni pin fine line Number 03 and then finished off with the Sakura Glaze and Gelly roll pens. They make everything so pretty and shiny, such lovely colours.
Going to enter this over at Simon says stamp blog work it Wednesday  Show us something you love... So I am loving doing these dangles and there are always a few hearts dangled on my pages..

Have a great day
Sandy :)
